
Prof. Dr. Kemal MEMİŞOĞLU
Our Minister of Health
Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu is originally from Rize and was born in Trabzon in 1966. After graduating from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1990, he received his General Surgery Specialist degree from Istanbul Okmeydanı Training Hospital in 1995.
Between 1996 and 1998, he worked as a General Surgery Specialist at SSK Konya Ereğli Hospital, PTT Hospital, and Bursa Military Hospital.
Between 1999 and 2000, he worked at the Liver and Gastrointestinal Transplantation Unit of the University of Miami.
Between 2000 and 2002, he served as Chief Assistant in the Department of General Surgery at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine.
At the end of 2002, he was appointed Chief Physician of PTT Hospital and became Associate Professor of General Surgery in 2008. He completed his Master's degree in Health Management at Beykent University in 2009, having started in 2007.
He served as Chief Physician at Istanbul Fatih Sultan Mehmet Training and Research Hospital for 10 years.
In November 2012, he was appointed as Head of Medical Services at the Istanbul Anatolian North Public Hospitals Union General Secretariat, and in May 2014, he became the General Secretary of the same union.
In 2016, he was appointed as a Professor in General Surgery at the Health Sciences University Fatih Sultan Mehmet Health Application and Research Center (SUAM).
From October 2016, he served as the Istanbul Provincial Health Director and was appointed as the Minister of Health on July 2, 2024.
Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu is married and has three children.
